Breathe In, Bliss Out: The Practice of Pranayama
Gain insight into the powerful practice of Pranayama or energy control techniques, using the breath as the vehicle. We will explore various avenues to voluntarily increase the life force energy or “prana” that is omni-present in our bodies, resulting in calm awareness and increased vitality. We will explore the cleansing techniques of agni sara (fire stoking); kapalabhati (shining skull breath); abdominal breathing with awareness; three-part or full yogic breath; ujjai pranayama (victorious or ocean-sounding breath) and anuloma valoma (alternate nostril breath). This workshop will culminate with meditation.
Revitalize with Surya Namaskar
Surya Namaskar or “Sun Salutation” is a well known and widely practiced vital technique within the world yoga community. Surya Namaskar is a useful method to induce an energetic and healthy lifestyle through the joys of stretching, breathing and learning about the body and its connection to the mind and inner be-ing. In this workshop you will learn the 12 positions of the practice with concentration on the elements of form, energy and rhythm. We will also discuss the overall effects of Surya Namaskar and how this practice can ultimately assist in our attainment of optimal health and peace of mind.
